Trasighet och Fransar

Trasighet och Fransar, yes. The melancholy and subtext-covered lyrics in so many of Olle Adolphsons songs (of love relationships) gets a beautiful luster when it is filtered through Iris Bergcrantz's youthful, high pitch, and light voice.

-Alexander Agrell Sydsvenskan

Bergcrantz has at her disposal a high pitch yet strong voice, she articulates well… Her intrusive sheer voice is elegantly mixed with refined instrumentation, which among other things creates three lyrical jewels.

-Mats Hallberg Orkesterjournalen

This is Swedish song tradition when it is at its best, interpreted by a young singer who already is one of the foremost jazz vocalists.

That the artist herself is rapt by what she interprets can sometimes almost distance the listener. Bergcrantz on the other hand instead makes it very beautiful, in so many different ways. She is gentle with the material, and seems to really trust the lyrics that she sings. Most importantly she is able to express emotions that not only exist within the lyrics or the compositions, but somewhere in between, perhaps partly in the arrangement itself.

Also, while performing live, she is just as convincing.

- Johannes Cornell  Dagens Nyheter

Trasighet och Fransar is an absolutely wonderful album

When a female singer tackles Adolphson, it is almost impossible not to compare her to Monica Zetterlund but don’t worry! Bergcrantz does not try to sound like Monica Z. She is certainly not a pale copy. She sounds like herself. And that goes a long way, a very long way.

This is an album both for those who would like to discover Olle Adolphson, and for those who know him well but would like to hear the familiar music in a slightly different but throughout very convincing way.

- Sten Wistrand Kulturdelen

She sings so beautifully, well and brittlely.

“... it’s a joy to hear these four voices joined together to form a whole of musical credibility”

Kära Mor

“The group sings the traditional folk songs in such a free and unconstrained way that the familiar folk expressions found in the well-known repertoire are almost certanly transformed into vocally bold arrangements. Åkervinda implements a real update of the traditionally saturated tunes from the past to a level that holds the most complex vocal harmonies, sometimes near a jazz idiom”
— Gunder Wåhlberg, Lira Musikmagasin
